John Wanninger, an accomplished entrepreneur, is fueled by a passion for exceeding expectations and serving others. Raised on a family farm in Coon Rapids, Iowa, John learned the values of hard work and integrity early on.
With 34 years of sobriety under his belt, he inspires those around him with his resilience and dedication. Family is central to John’s life, with his daughters and parents holding a special place in his heart. A lover of cars and a serial entrepreneur, John has started or acquired over 40 businesses, driven by his belief in giving his all to every endeavor. He cherishes the relationships he’s built along the way, considering them invaluable assets in both business and life.
John’s philosophy — reflected in his favorite mantra “Burn the boats!” — guides him in making a difference and leaving a lasting impact on those he encounters.

Travis Schafer – Director of Field Operations
Travis is a dedicated professional, proud father, and devoted husband from the small town of Valley, Nebraska. With a relentless work ethic and a passion for excellence, he tackles challenges head-on, driven by a commitment to success for his family and community.
Outside of the workplace, Travis cherishes quality time with his two wonderful children and beloved dogs.
Katie Risley – Commercial Business Development
Katie Risley was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She is the proud mother to three amazing children and an active member in her community. She recently joined the Red Rhino team, taking on the role of Director of Commercial Business Development.
Although a bit cliché, she considers herself a people person and enjoys the myriad of personalities she encounters daily.
Mike Hanson – Director of Commercial Operations
Mike Hanson has been in the construction industry for over 20 years. He is the proud father of a three year old daughter and a five year old son. Along with his loving wife, they enjoy spending time with family and friends.
He has managed many large commercial builds to simple small repairs. It is his goal and passion to go above and beyond to ensure Red Rhino’s clients are 100 satisfied with the end product.
Ben Gutekunst – Senior Project Manager / Director of Solar
Ben, a native of Kansas City, is a dynamic professional with a passion for fostering genuine connections. Ben’s dedication to going above and beyond for his customers is unmatched.
Ben approaches each task with enthusiasm and a desire to excel. His ability to understand and exceed customer expectations has earned him a reputation for excellence in his field.
Kelsey Hoyt – Director of Residential Production and Operations
Kelsey was born in Norfolk, Nebraska, but raised in a small town outside Chicago (Go Bears!). Kelsey followed her roofs back to Nebraska and is now the Director of Residential Production at Red Rhino. Kelsey is dedicated to ensuing the success and excellence of every project we undertake.
Kelsey’s greatest joy comes from spending time with her family.
Kyler McCarty – Senior Project Manager
After graduating from high school, Kyler briefly attended Northwest Missouri State University before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. With nearly 8 years at Nebraska Machinery Company as a Field Technician specializing in Caterpillar Machinery, he transitioned to the roofing industry in 2023, joining Red Rhino Roofs.
Kyler is married to his high school sweetheart and they have three children.
Larry Safarik – Senior Project Manager
Bringing 38 years of expertise to the roofing industry, Larry is a seasoned professional known for his deep passion and commitment. He embraces the challenges and innovations of roofing, but it’s his dedication to customer care that truly sets him apart.
Beyond work, Larry cherishes time with his family, finding fulfillment in their company.
Rick Bell – Director of Sales
As a service-oriented Sales Director, Rick finds fulfillment in hands-on work and supporting his children’s sports endeavors. On weekends, he serves as a Unit Armorer in the United States Army Reserves.
Treating customers like family, he seeks win-win solutions, ensuring everyone feels valued and satisfied.
Paul Craig – Senior Project Manager
With over five years in the roofing industry, Paul is known for his dedication to clients, always striving for excellence in every project. Outside of work, he treasures family time with his son and daughter, as well as his passion for golfing.
Paul’s commitment, expertise, and balanced approach make him a respected professional and devoted family man.
Joseph Post – Senior Project Manager
Joseph, a seasoned Project Manager at Red Rhino, brings over 10 years of property management and remodeling experience. He ensures roofing and solar solutions are expertly installed and tailored to the Midwest climate. With a focus on quality craftsmanship and client satisfaction, Joseph leads expert crews to consistently exceed expectations.

Aaron Duncan – Project Manager
Aaron is a dedicated project manager and lead repair technician renowned for his commitment to customer service. With 16 years of expertise in commercial flat roofs, Aaron boasts a proven track record of success.
Beyond work, he treasures family time with his five children and three dogs. Aaron lives by the motto “Live everyday like it’s your last,” embracing each moment with enthusiasm and zest.
Rick Bultez – Senior Project Manager
Rick is a seasoned Senior Project Manager who brings extensive expertise in insurance claims. With five years of experience, he’s handled thousands of claims, ensuring clients receive deserved compensation. Rick’s dedication extends to his family; married for 13 years, he’s a devoted father of two.

Savannah Capps – Office Manager
